Montgenevre is the oldest ski resort in the French Alps. It’s snow sure skiing, and family atmosphere have attracted people in the know for years, but the resort has enjoyed a renaissance recently thanks to it’s status as one of the most snow sure resorts in the alps, just over one hour from an airport at Turin.

The resort has seen a number of changes in the last ten years, notably a tunnel which diverts almost all through traffic away from the resort, and it’s this change and an enthusiastic team of restauranteurs, ski instructors and what must be the friendliest ESF base anywhere in the Alps, which has led to it’s growing popularity as a solid family resort perfect for beginners whilst also becoming an emerging must-ski free ride destination.

At the heart of any ski resort is the local bar. There’s always one that’s seen all the changes and been the cornerstone of village life for as long as anyone can remember and for Montgenenvre locals and visitors alike, that bar is Le Graal.

The term ‘bar’ does it a bit of a disservice. Yes, it’s probably the busiest Apres bar in town, with live music and cocktails for most of the week, but they also serve one of the best breakfast and lunch menus in resort and it’s central location makes it a real hub for the village.

Greg and Fredo heads up the team with popular localised brit Craig at the helm during the day, with Romain and Lorenz taking over for the buzzing Apres sessions, with regular live music from Turino duo Two Fat Men and local band Consortium.

Romain is one of the most long serving bar men in the place but you’ll often catch him behind the decks these days too, spinning tunes from his days at Pascha and other London Super Clubs.

As many of our regulars know, this is where we often host our welcome nights on the Sunday evenings. You may even find some of the team in here (normally off duty). Come and join us for a drink!
