The best seasons are summer for hiking, cycling and water sports and the winter (December to April) is best for skiing, snowboarding and other snow and ice based sports. Due to the long and snow-sure winters, almost all season is great for a holiday. If you have kids, the holiday season is perfect for a white Christmas, February is a sweet spot between the perfect snow and warming days, Easter has wonderful longer days with more sun. If you don’t have kids or are able to come out of peak season, you will find even less busy slopes and cheaper prices across the board. Contact the team for further questions.

Of course, driving across France (normally 10 hours from Calais) does eat into your holiday time but for people who love a road trip, it can be a great way to turn the holiday into more of an adventure. Car hire is of course possible from all major airports.
All that you need to remember is a few key facts regarding safe driving in Winter conditions. Snow chains and Winter tyres are obligatory in the Alpes so whether it’s your car or a hire car, you must have these at all times. If you are hiring a car, remember to ask your rental company for snow chains. Police in France can and will hand on the spot fines if you are caught without winter tyres or not using chains when asked to and/or seen to be causing an obstruction. Heavy snow on mountain roads can be tricky to navigate, so always drive with caution. You also need to consider the additional cost of fuel and tolls and the further the airport, the higher the cost. All French and Italian motorways have tolls and these add up quickly, so remember to factor these into your travelling expenses. Further information on our travel page.

This does not guarantee the property or week, but it gives you first refusal if everything proceeds as planned. Contact the team asap to get your pre-booking organised.

For children, the choice of skis is dependent upon their age and/or height. So, if you need to, have a quick measure of their height and let us know what they’ll need (this can be changed quite late in the day if they have a growth spurt!). Helmets are mandatory for children under the age of 16, and so they are included in the packs for free; if they have their own, that’s not a problem – just let us know. As a guide, there are three types of ski packs:
Child Ski Pack = for children aged 3-6
Junior Ski Pack = for children aged 7-11
Teen Ski Pack = for children aged 12-16
There is more information on our ski hire page.

A ski pack includes; boots, skis, poles and a helmet.
Already have some of your own equipment? No problem, we can offer you a reduced pack price if you don’t require all of these items. You can chat to one of our team or go here for more information.

No, save your money on this one, all you really need is good travel insurance with winter sports cover. The lift pass insurance doesn’t offer extensive coverage should you encounter any holiday blunders and is usually only bought by the French who are less likely to have the same travel insurance whilst holidaying within their own country. Further information here.

Before you come to Montgenevre
It’s really important when you come out for a Winter holiday that you have adequate travel and winter sports insurance for your trip. This should then cover you for any travel, loss or injuries incurred, any damage to the property you are staying in and in the case of a claim, cover some of your expenses such as unused ski pass, equipment hire or cover you for other cases such as a lost ski pass. Many clients have winter Sports insurance as part of an arrangement for other services, such as bank accounts or home insurance. Therefore if this is the case, make sure you check your details prior to your holiday. If you are intending on going off piste, make sure this is covered and what it covers you for. Contact the team if you have any further questions.

There is no requirement to book lessons. However, whether you are a total beginner looking for a quick start or a competent skier looking to improve your technique, a lesson or more can be a great way to find your ski legs. You know what they say, there’s always room for improvement..! Further information on the lessons page.

Yes you can, however, it would be advised to book prior to arriving and as early as possible with us. This way we can be sure to book you in for your preferred choices. This is particularly the case on peak weeks. Lessons can be booked (subject to availability on the peak weeks) at either the ESF or the ESI desk in resort. If you go to Altiski (Skimium), and show you are staying with Go Montgenevre, Sandrine and the team will give you discount. However, if you pre-book the discount is bigger.
Note: the bookings team only take pre-bookings up to 2 weeks prior to your arrival, alternatively ask when in resort.

Nearly all of our chalets and apartments come with wifi, there are only a few which don’t. However if yours doesn’t, the village 4G is great so connectivity shouldn’t be a problem. There is resort-wide, free wifi, but as with all mountain resorts this can be patchy.
Disclaimer: You’re in the mountains and snow can be heavy, so please bear in mind that this can affect your wifi from time to time. However on the plus side, more snow, more skiing! Contact the team with specific questions.

Yes, there are cash machines located both by the Tourist Office and by the Espace Partinaire. Cash withdrawals are free, however, charges may be applied based on individual terms and conditions of your bank or building society. There is no currency exchange but with minimal bank charges most people don't get out currency before they leave and just withdraw from the cashpoint when needed. Most items in Resort can be paid for with cards, but worth noting that some of the smaller bars, cafes and restaurants sometimes only take cash.

This will depend on your property but for smaller properties, usually this is not a problem. However if you are booking a larger chalet, please bear in mind that hot water can be on a first come, first serve basis as even large tanks can run short. All boilers in France are set automatically to an ‘Eco’ setting. This means that water heats up overnight only, ready for the morning and not on demand like in other countries. If you would like hot water on demand, then you can override this setting daily by moving the switch from 0 to 1. Contact the team with further or specific questions.
