Learning to ski

We know that Montgenevre is a fantastic resort to learn to ski but what Dan Atkins did was one of the most impressive learning curves we have ever seen. Thanks for the shout out Dan – it was great to have you here!

  • Incredible instructors and guides that help you get going quicker than you might think.
  • Huge, 50,000m² area dedicated just to beginners
  • 2 dedicated lifts for beginners
  • Nursery (Green) runs from the top of the resort, so you get the full mountain experience even as a beginner.

Carve some clean lines after a fresh snow dump in the powder fields, cliffs and tree runs of the Montgenèvre mountains. They’re waiting to be conquered.

Montgenevre is home to some of France's best natural free ride. There is something for all levels and it is always worth hiring a guide for the day from our local ski schools (we recommend Eric!) to help you enjoy the mountain to its fullest.

Easy off-piste - Les Vallons de la Doire

  • Les Vallons de La Vachette
  • La combe du Loup

Nearby runs for capable off-piste skiers

  • Les Bois des Brousset
  • Les Bois du Rocher Rouge

Runs for off-piste experts

  • Couloirs du Janus
  • Descente sur Les Pentes de La Plane

And for those that still want more

  • A 1000 metre descent from Gondrans to Cervières

Guests who want to free ride should understand the risks involved. Adventurers should never go alone, always tell someone where you are going and how long it will take, make sure you have at least 2 avalanche transmitters on your person, and take an avalanche pack including a shovel and a probe. Always consult an off-piste professional on your itineraries and on the snow conditions.

Montgenevre has both beginner and intermediate parks to help perfect your switch underflip and backside 720.

Montgenèvre has 2 boarder-x/boardercross courses. Nobody with a thirst for speed and adventure will be left disappointed.

Around an hour away, one of the world's premier off-piste glaciers offers a truly thrilling ride. Fully guided trips from Montgenevre possible - half or full day. Prices from £60 per person.

With all freestyle tricks, stunts, rails and slams there are risks involved. Always wear protective gear, especially a quality helmet. Never go alone, always tell someone where you are going and never push yourself too far beyond your abilities. Always check landings and make sure you give other riders enough space and time when hitting obstacles and jumps.

Booking just two steps:

1) Check your flight/transport availability

We would recommend flying to Turin, as it is the nearest airport.

The transfer is only 1hr 20mins and we have shared transfers from just £22pp each way.

Add a note to your booking if you would like information on transfers.

Notes: There are also great flights to Milan, Grenoble and Chambery. We can organise transfers from airports, train stations, and cities in and all around the Alps, but these destinations are definitely recommended. If you decide to drive or rent a car from a local city, ensure you request winter tyres, snow chains and have a driver with experience of snow and ice driving. Further travel and transfer information and recommendations here.
