Montgenèvre offers excellent holidays both summer and winter. Right on the Italian border, Montgenèvre dates back to pre-Roman times, being on an ancient pass between Italy and France. The charm of the village is complimented by its position in an area that boasts 300 days sunshine a year. Its height means the snow comes earlier and stays later.
There are many local restaurants and bars in the village offering a range of both traditional mountain fare and popular dishes.
Montgenèvre has all the facilities of a modern resort whilst retaining its traditional charm. The restaurants and bars in the village offer a range of both traditional mountain fare and popular dishes. These are complimented by the local shopping and weekly market.
The ski slopes at Montgenèvre are
particularly well-suited to beginners and intermediates. A cheap day
extension gives you access to 400km of slopes in the Milky Way.
Montgenèvre has a total of 59 slopes, covering 100km of pistes and
served by 38 lifts. Of the pistes, 25 are beginner runs, 23 are
intermediate runs and 11 are advanced runs. The ski resort has several
runs of decent length, the longest being 7km.
The winter season at Montgenèvre runs from December to April, and the
ski resort is known for having excellent snowfall during this time

There are literally hundreds of miles of stunning well marked walks both for the beginner and the more experienced hiker. Whether the magnificent scenery or the many mountaintop forts it is well worth the climb. Route maps or guides are available and in the high season gondolas are available to give you a leg up to the first stage of the mountains. With the availability of local guides this is a very popular activity and a great way to work up an appetite for the local cuisine.
Play golf at International course that crosses into

A favourite pastime here, there are many well marked tracks across the mountains and the ability to hire cycles locally.
